Why Pets Are the Ultimate Mood Booster

A personal point of view why pets are the ultimate mood booster

It is no mystery that pets are a lot of work. You must provide them with constant care to make sure they are happy and healthy. So why take on the added responsibility? Because pets can bring us insurmountable joy and that makes everything more than worth it. When you walk in the door after a long day of work, there is no better feeling than cuddling up with your pet on the couch to help you wind down from the day…and perhaps a glass of wine to top it off? (After all, you’ve earned it). Pets are the ultimate mood booster.

I can’t say that pets are the cure-all in times of need, but they certainly can help ease suffering. Pet owners are less likely to suffer from depression, and anxiety —an even aid to lowering blood pressure.

Furthermore, playing with our animals can elevate levels of serotonin. And this will trigger dopamine release, both of which are key ingredients for feeling good and being calm and relaxed.

Not only does the mere presence of a loving pet bring joy into your life, but they can also bring additional mood boosting activities along with them. When the dog needs a walk, it means you are getting a walk in, too. Exercise is known to improve your overall health and well being in more than one way. but when you are able to get your body moving, you are able to release tension, stress and tensions that may have been building during the course of the day. When you exercise your body, you’re exercising your brain, and a daily walk with your dog can be just the thing to help you do that.

Additionally, pets have the ability to just be straight up hilarious. How many internet videos have you seen of pets doing wacky and weird things that just make you laugh? By their very nature, pets are joyful beings, they do what makes them feel good and learn to be their own best entertainment. As a pet parent, you get to revel in their joy, and everyone knows laughter is the best medicine.
